The end of the story, the woman who suffered from nervous depression became crazy.

Who or what cause the ending? I think we can't only put the blame on her husband, John, but the whole society.

For me, it's hard to imagine women could not be respected.

In the story, seems no one notice the woman was crying inside, even herself.

She knew there was something wrong, but as John's persuasion and neglect, she lost her truly mind unconsciously.

Think carefully, if we only focus on physical therapy, as a physician treat general patient, with no doubt, John took the best care of the woman, his wife, a nice room, nutritious food and the words of concern.

Unfortunately, the only thing he ignored was her wife's emotion, and this is the key elements to the woman's illness.

However, he would never know that is the reason why his wife came to bad end.

The woman finally lost herself between fact and fiction, but as free the trapped woman by stripping the wallpaper off, she had no choice but went the worst way to free herself.
